Cats are excessively particular groomers and show pride in themselves with their cleanliness. Over time cats may have odors that can be unpleasant; however, long haired cats in particular can have a buildup of urine, feces, and dirt that their regular self grooming cannot clean. These buildups can lead to your pet emitting strong odors.

Fleas
Fleas are a huge irritant to cats causing itching, scratching, and in some cases diseases and anemia. Fleas themselves are irritating while biting cats; however some cats are allergic to the flea saliva which can cause a hypersensitivity reaction. This reaction can cause severe itching, and hair loss.

Skunk Spray
Skunks have a very defensive system that everyone has smelled. It is a spray that is thick, yellow, oily and very smelly. The spray is an organic compound that is called mercaptan which is why it is such a strong smelling odor. Skunks store the "spray" until they feel threatened and then release the spray. Skunks are able to spray over 10 feet away and primarily the face is the target of the spray in pets.

Fleas
Fleas can be a huge irritation to animals as they can cause itching and the animals will try to remove the fleas by biting and scratching. Some animals are allergic to the flea's saliva which can result in rashes. Fleas can also cause hair loss, as the host is constantly scratching and biting. As well, hair loss can be caused from the stress of the animal having fleas. In extreme cases of flea infestation, animals can become anemic.

Hot Spots and Bug Bites
Hot Spots, also known as Acute Moist Dermatitis are localized, moist, reddened bacterial infections of the skin. Hot Spots are started due to something that irritates the skin such as; flea bites, food allergies, parasites, poor grooming, tick & mosquito bites, heat, etc. Hot Spots can be itchy or even become inflamed. The itching usually causes dogs to lick or chew the area, which will damage the skin.
Bug bites are another nuisance to dogs. Whether it is from mosquitoes, fleas, black flies, ants, etc they tend to leave pets with irritating itchy spots. Dogs will constantly scratch and lick the areas to help relieve the irritant.

Bad Odor (bathing not an option)
Dogs have natural odors and sometimes they may develop unnatural odors due to skin disease or other disorders. As well, odors can be caused from environmental sources. Poor or little grooming can cause unpleasant odors from dirt and other contaminants being trapped in their coats. Another cause of odors can be from food allergies. Some dogs such as hounds, bulldogs, Shar-pei's, etc have folds in their skin that can be prone to bacteria or yeast that will cause odors.

Dirty White Dog
Not only white or light colored dogs become dirty from playing outside, poor grooming, etc, they can also have "stains" from urine, excessive tearing, and saliva from playing with other dogs. Dirty dogs not only look like "they need a bath" but they also smell "like they need a bath". Over time dirt, urine, saliva, etc build up on a dog's coat which will lead to unpleasant odors. Keeping pets clean not only will improve their appearance but also their well being as it will keep them more comfortable.

Dry Skin
Dry skin can be associated with numerous factors such as; environmental, nutritional, parasitic, allergic, neurogenic, and infectious. Environmental Dermatitis can be from dogs being allergic to grass, moist eczema from moisture on the skin's surface from rain, lakes, and ponds, and small scratches on the skin. Nutritional Dermatitis is usually caused from a low quality diet. Parasitic Dermatitis (fleas & ticks) cause scratching and itching and in some cases pets can even be allergic to the flea's saliva. Infectious Dermatitis is usually caused from bacteria, fungus, and yeast organisms which can cause odors as well as dry itchy skin. Allergic Dermatitis can be caused by numerous irritants however a few are; food allergies, medications, plant material, dust, etc. Neurogenic Dermatitis is usually seen in dogs as they obsessively chew and lick at a certain area. Most cases of Neurogenic Dermatitis may be from boredom, separation anxiety, frustration, etc.

Destructive Chewing
Puppies and juvenile dogs learn about their surrounding by gnawing on what they can find. They will find random objects such as shoes, books, chairs, etc. This is a usual behavior in young dogs. Dogs can also have anxiety related chewing to such things as thunderstorms, separation anxiety, wind and various other noises.

Mites & Ticks
Mites and ticks are the most common external parasites found on snakes, lizards, and turtles. Ticks and mites feed on the blood of the reptiles and in heavily infestations can cause anemia. Mites and ticks can also transmit diseases from one reptile to another which is why it is very important to rip reptiles of these external parasites.

Pet Stains
Pet stains are usually caused from urination, defecation and vomit from our pets. Flooring, carpets and furniture are usually the main targets of these stain.
