DeFlea works through a different 'mode of action' compared to typical pesticides. Most pesticides use pyrethroid type compounds to kill fleas.

DeFlea does not work this way. DeFlea first attacks the physical structure of the flea or pest by dissolving the waxy protective coating on the surface of their body. The other active ingredient (primarily a laxative in laymen's terms) is then able to penetrate the flea's body and overwhelm the intestines with a lethal dose of diuretic. For humans it's simply a laxative, for a flea it's deadly.
