This is an important question. There are mainly two types of stains common to pools, organic staining and metal based staining. Natural Chemistry has a Stain ID kit available to test for metal ion based stains, ie: copper and other trace metals.

In most cases if there are no results with the Stain ID tablets, you have an organic stain, ie: vegetation, oils or some other organic material. In this case we recommend our First Aid product, which provides a heavy dose of concentrated enzymes to break down the organic material. In addition, you will probably need to shock the pool water.
